The Sri Navanandi Educational Society took shape in 1989, with a view to fulfill the need for young educated citizens to take India into the future. Guided by the cause of pioneering quality education for nation’s deserving young minds, the society embarked on establishing a premier school at Nandikotkur in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh named as “SRI NAVANANDI HIGH SCHOOL”. The school is named after the “Nava Nandis (BULLS)”. present surrounding the village to remind the past glory of Cholas’ who ruled this area. The legend says that Nandikotkur is surrounded by nine bulls across the four corners of the place and hence the name Nava Nandikotkur.This small town has another two more feathers in its cap. The Sun Temple (Lord Suryanarayana Swamy) belongs to 9th-10th centuries is located here. Manikundala Sri Suryanarayana Swamy temple is famous temple in this region. This is second such temple after Arasavelli in which main Deity is Sri Surya Narayana Swamy. The Ratha Sapthami festive is celebrated annually on a grand note. Unique thing about this temple was that Sun rays touch the feet of Deity during sunrise in Dhanurmasa. India’s second “Great Indian Bustard” bird sanctuary is located in Rollapadu which is 17km. away from Nandikotkur.
